The Hoover Institution Library & Archives holds more than 6,000 archival collections that document war, revolution, and peace that shaped our world in the 20th and 21st centuries. This section lists some of our archival collections related to Education.

Archival Collections

C.R.B. Educational Foundation records: Reports, minutes of meetings, correspondence, charts, clippings, other printed matter, and photographs, relating to Belgian-American exchange fellowships sponsored by the foundation, Belgian-American cultural relations, child health and nutrition in Belgium, the German occupation of Belgium in World War II, Kings Albert I and Leopold III of Belgium, and the 1950 Belgian plebiscite on the restoration of the monarchy.

Eurich (Nell) papers: Speeches and writings, correspondence, memoranda, studies, reports, and printed matter related to international and comparative education, higher education in the United States, adult education and literacy, career and job training, and corporate involvement in education.

Finn (Chester E., Jr.) papers: Speeches and writings, memoranda, reports, correspondence, agenda, and printed matter, relating to education in the United States, and especially to educational policy during the presidential administrations of Richard M. Nixon and Ronald Reagan, and to activities of the Educational Excellence Network and of the United States National Assessment Governing Board.

Herbst (Jurgen) papers: Correspondence, memoranda, minutes, conference papers, reports, and printed matter, relating to the history of education in Germany, Allied educational policy in Germany after World War II, German-American educational exchanges, and activities of the International Standing Conference for the History of Education in promoting study of the history of education.

Reed (Howard A.) papers: Correspondence, memoranda, reports, studies, notes, curricular material, conference papers and proceedings, and printed matter, relating to the promotion of international education in the United States; Middle Eastern area studies, and especially Turkish studies, in the United States; and activities of the American Friends Service Committee and other organizations in promoting education for peace and international exchange programs for students.

United States National Student Association International Commission records: Correspondence, reports, memoranda, minutes of meetings, bulletins, circulars, questionnaires, notes, lists, financial records, printed matter, photographs, and sound recordings relating to the international activities of the association, including delegation and scholarship exchanges with other nations, American representation at annual International Student Conferences, relations with analogous student organizations abroad, and the effects of world politics on education.

Willis (Benjamin C.) papers: Minutes and verbatim transcripts of meetings, statistics, reports, correspondence, speeches, sound recordings, and motion picture film relating to public education in Chicago. Digital use copies of selected items also available.
