The Hoover Institution Library & Archives has one of the major Bulgarian collections in the United States. It consists of resources related to the history of Bulgaria starting from the mid-nineteenth century until the end of the 20th century. It covers the very important resources for the Balkan Wars of 1912-1913, and Bulgarian involvement in WWI, and the Paris peace conference. For the interwar period, HILA has significant holdings on the Bulgarian political parties, the country's official periodical Dŭrzhaven vi͡estnik and other resources. There are considerable materials on Bulgaria's part in World War II. The best-covered area is the history of the Bulgarian Communist Party and its publications.
The most significant archival collections are the writings of Georgi M. Dimitrov, Racho Petrov, Atanas Slavov, Dimitri Stanchov, and Kyril Drenikoff.
