Donald Read Heath (1894-1981) was a career diplomat in the United States Foreign Service from 1920 to 1961. His papers consist of correspondence, speeches, writings, sound recordings, photographs, and printed matter largely surrounding his diplomatic positions. In 1949 Heath was the first postwar U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria next hit . He was recalled from the post in 1950 when the Bulgarian government declared him persona non grata, accusing him of plotting against the Bulgarian government in connection with Bulgarian deputy prime minister Traicho Kostov. Among other charges, Kostov was accused of conspiring with the U.S. Embassy and hanged for treason. Upon Heath's return to the U.S., he received numerous speaking invitations. Bulgaria dropped all charges against Heath in 1959 and diplomatic relations were restored.

Spas T. Raikin [Спас Тодоров Райкин], 1922-2014. A Bulgarian-American historian, who served as secretary of the Central Executive Board, Bulgarian National Council, from 1960 to 1963. Spas Raikin’s academic career was mostly with the East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania, where he taught from 1966 until his retirement in 1991.

Zhivkova, Evgenia - Живкова, Евгения (1965-). Granddaughter of Todor Zhivkov

Zhivkova is the grandaughter of Bulgarian Communist leader, Todor Zhivkov. She provides short biography about herself explaining that she carries the name Zhivkova because she was adopted by her grandfather. Regime change in Bulgaria was not a coup d'état, she says; rather, it followed developments throughout Eastern Europe and would not have been possible sooner because of Bulgaria's dependence on the Soviet Union. Other topics discussed: Zhivkova's belief that her mother, Ludmila Zhivkova, died of natural causes (brain tumor); Todor's experience living under house arrest and his life afterward, following a successful protest in front of the National Assembly; Todor feeling abandoned by his former Communist party colleagues whom, he says, blame him for Communist era transgressions; and a planned appear in front of the National Assembly to talk about the economic crisis and the rights of the Turkish minority.
