Anna May Wong in Frank Dorn papers (photographs): Anna May Wong was an American actress, considered to be the first Chinese American Hollywood movie star.
Arthur Lym in Renee Lym Robertson papers (Chinese American aviator): Renée Lym Robertson (Lum May Yook, Lin Mai Yue) was born in Shanghai, China, in 1928. She first came to the United States in 1939, immigrating through Angel Island, and returned to China after World War II in 1945. Collection materials are related to Arthur Lym (Renee’s father), a San Francisco native who was one of the first aviators of Chinese descent to be licensed by the Aero Club of America.
Buddhist Church of San Francisco records, 1910-1980: Founded in 1898, the Buddhist Church of San Francisco was the first Jodo Shinshu (Pure Land) Buddhist temple established in the continental United States and is the flagship temple of the Buddhist Churches of America (BCA). The Buddhist Church of San Francisco records (1910-1980) contains membership and financial records, correspondence, memoranda, issuances, and photographs, relating to Japanese Buddhist activities in the United States.
Frank B. and Josephine Whitney Duveneck collection, 1936-1974: Pamphlets, leaflets, reports, bulletins, newsletters, statements, Congressional hearings, serial issues, and clippings, relating to the internment of Japanese Americans in the United States during World War II; social problems in the United States, especially in California, and especially with reference to migrant farm workers, sharecroppers, blacks, and American Indians; race relations in the United States; and progressive education programs. Collected by Frank B. and Josephine Whitney Duveneck. Includes a few letters written to the Duvenecks.

New Left collection, 1923-2004: The New Left Collection largely relates to radical movements for political and social change in the United States during the 1960s and 1970s. It is the largest resource in the archives devoted to this turbulent period in American history. Organized alphabetically by subject file, the collections consists of serial issues and other printed matter, and includes a great deal of ephemera, especially leaflets and flyers. Topics covered in the collection include the movement against the Vietnam War; student radicalism; the civil rights movement and black militancy; revolutionary organizations; the women's liberation movement; and the counter-culture.
The Militant photographic collection, circa 1900-2000: Photographs, drawings, and printed reproductions of illustrations depicting activities of anti-war, civil rights, labor, racial justice, women's rights, and other protest movements in the United States and other countries, mainly from the 1960s through the 1990s. Includes many photographs from Cuba and Nicaragua. Also includes photographs depicting activities of the Socialist Workers Party in the United States and of related organizations in the United States and abroad. Collected by the New York newspaper The Militant for use in illustrating its issues.
