Iris Chang 張純如 papers, 1877-2007: The Iris Chang 張純如 papers (1877-2007) contain correspondence, writings, recordings and transcripts of interviews, photocopies of government records and other documents, printed matter, audiovisual material, and memorabilia relating to the history of Chinese in the United States, and to aspects of World War II. Includes research material for the books by Iris Chang, Thread of the Silkworm (New York, 1995), The Rape of Nanking (New York, 1997), and The Chinese in America (New York, 2003), and for an uncompleted work on conditions of American soldiers captured by Japanese forces and Japanese atrocities against American prisoners of war.
Jack Chen 陳依範 papers, bulk 1927-1980: The Jack Chen 陳依範 papers (1913-1995) contain drawings, cartoons, writings, correspondence, and clippings, relating to political conditions in China, foreign relations of China, and world politics. Includes political cartoons by Jack Chen published in the international communist press.
Judy Yung 楊碧芳 slide collection, undated: The Judy Yung 楊碧芳 slide collection depicts Chinese women in the United States; a selection of images used as illustrations for the book, Chinese Women in America: a Pictorial History, University of Washington Press, 1986.
Pardee Lowe papers, 1911-2007: The papers consist primarily of writings, correspondence, notes, reports, memoranda, minutes, bulletins, clippings, pamphlets, serial issues, and other printed matter, relating to the U.S. Department of State, international education, educational activities of UNESCO, political and economic conditions in East Asia, the Free China cause, and Sino-Soviet relations. Of particular importance are ephemera, clippings, and other research materials related to Chinatowns, especially San Francisco Chinatown, and to Chinese Americans.
Harry K. Fukuhara papers, approximately 1920-1980: Harry K. Fukuhara was born in Seattle, Washington in 1920. Following WWII, he worked as part of the US Army's occupation and reconstruction of Japan, helping to establish post-war US-Japanese relations. The collection contains photos, documents, and interviews related to Harry K. Fukuhara's life and career. From high school in Hiroshima, as a military intelligence interpreter, and as a military intelligence officer during the occupation period of Japan.
Hiroshi Kashiwagi papers, 1941-2018: Diaries, writings, correspondence, and printed matter, relating to Japanese American internment during World War II and to postwar civil rights.
Japanese diaspora collection, 1889-2023: Reports, pamphlets, postcards, other printed matter, photographs, and digital materials relating to Japanese immigration to the United States and elsewhere, the Japanese community in the United States, and Japanese American internment during World War II.
