Many of these collections relate to the development of nuclear weapons, nuclear power plants, nuclear regulatory frameworks, and to debates about nuclear technology in the United States and abroad. Other collections document citizen diplomacy between scientists in the United States and the Soviet Union, particularly campaigns to aid the Soviet dissident physicist Andrei Sakharov.
