*Vrangel', Baronessa Mariia Dmitrievna (b. 1857‒d. 1944) Collection, 1915‒1944: Material relating to Russian émigré activities following the Russian Revolution and Civil War, including political, military, veterans', religious, educational, cultural, literary, artistic, and social activities. *Wolfe, Bertram David (1896‒1977) Papers, 1903‒2000: Material relating to Marxism; the international communist movement; communism in the Soviet Union, the United States, and elsewhere; literature and art in the Soviet Union and in Mexico; and the Mexican artist Diego Rivera. The photograph series includes 807 prints, 9 drawings, 6 negatives, 3 color slides, and 4 glass plates across 35 envelopes. Digitized material [click].
The album is filled with nineteen photomechanical prints of places of interest in Kiev [Kyiv], Ukraine, from the early part of the 20th Century.
Baronessa Mariia Dmitrievna Vrangel’s collection (acquired in 1933) is a remarkable resource documenting the White Russian diaspora after the civil war. While this album focuses on the Don Cossacks on Lemnos and their relocation to Bulgaria and Serbia, the extensive collection includes more than 20 photographic albums depicting daily life, special events, and social and cultural activities in colonies of refugees worldwide.
