Introduction to the Collection

Oceania is a collective name for the islands scattered throughout most of the Pacific Ocean. There are collections on Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, and Tonga covering a variety of topics including exploration, right wing activities, international cooperation between nations, and foreign policy matters. 

Featured Collections

New Zealand newspaper collection 1951-1991 - The newspapers in this collection were originally collected by the Hoover Institution Library and transferred to the Archives in 2019. The New Zealand newspaper collection (1951-1991) comprises three different English-language titles of publication. All of the titles within this collection have been further analyzed in Stanford University Libraries catalog.

New South Wales Medical Board memoranda - Relates to conditions for foreign or foreign-trained physicians to practice medicine in New South Wales and specifies the exclusion of Germans and Austrians, and of persons trained at German or Austrian schools.

Cormack (James) letter - Relates to the visit of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain to Tonga.
