Commonwealth Club of California records: The Gift of the Jews: A 1998 joint meeting with the Jewish Community Federation in which author Thomas Cahill discusses his new book, The Gift of the Jews.
Firing Line broadcast records: Jews and American Politics: General George Brown, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, had set off an avalanche of criticism by referring publicly-in the context of emergency aid to Israel following the Yom Kippur War-to the extraordinary influence of Jews on our foreign policy. He had been quickly defended, not in every particular but on the main point, by the Jewish journalist Stephen Isaacs. This lively discussion, full of detail, ranges from the Holocaust, to voting patterns of Jewish intellectuals, to the emotional effect of the 1967 Mideast War
Holocaust and the media conference proceedings: Recording of a conference on the reaction of the media and the government in the United States to the Jewish Holocaust in Europe during World War II. Speakers include Lenard Zachem, Dan Yankelovich, Angus Thuermer, Daniel Schorr, Richard C Hottelet, Irving Dilliard, David Ginsburg, Oscar Gass, Col. Bernard Bernstein, Deborah Lipstadt, and Richard Breitman. Yankelovich, a social scientist, begins the conference by illustrating the state of Jewish relations in the US through the use of polling data beginning in 1935. Subsequent speakers touch on such themes as xenophobia, isolationism, anti-semitism, and the general disinterest from the press to stories of the Jewish experience, as told by Jews, during the war.
Poster collection: Posters from many countries, relating to a broad range of topics in twentieth-century history, including Jewish History.
San José Conferences on the Holocaust proceedings: Proceedings of the First Western Regional Conference on the Holocaust: Proceedings of the First Western Regional Conference on the Holocaust, relating to the ancient, medieval, and modern origins of the Holocaust, its meaning for western civilization, and the methodology for teaching about the Holocaust in schools and universities.
