The Hoover Institution Library & Archives holds more than 6,000 archival collections that document war, revolution, and peace that shaped our world in the 20th and 21st centuries. This section lists some of our archival collections related to Business & Commerce.

Archival Collections

Arnold (Julean H.) papers: Diary, correspondence, speeches and writings, reports, dispatches, instructions, and memoranda relating to the American consular service in China, economic and political developments in China, and American commercial and foreign policy in East Asia. Digital copies of select records also available at https://digitalcollections.hoover.org 

Calder (Alonzo B.) papers: Memoranda, reports, correspondence, clippings, photographs, and pamphlets, relating to American foreign and economic relations with China in the interwar period and immediately after World War II, and to American foreign and trade relations with the Soviet Union, Egypt and Malaya.

Condliffe (John Bell) papers: Speeches and writings, correspondence, and printed matter, relating to various aspects of world economic conditions, especially international trade, the history of the development of world commerce, and the economic development of Australia, New Zealand and the entire Pacific basin region. Includes autobiographical writings, family photographs, and letters and memorabilia from his service in WWI.

Gregory (Bion Samuel) papers: Correspondence, business records, printed matter, photographs, and maps, relating to American business investment in Mexico. Bion S. Gregory was a lawyer, businessman and land agent.

Laissez Faire Books records: Correspondence, memoranda, financial documents, catalogs, other printed matter, and photographs relating to libertarianism and publishing in the United States.

Miller (James C.) papers: Speeches and writings, correspondence, memoranda, notes, reports, studies, statistics, clippings, and other printed matter relating to domestic policy in the United States during the presidential administration of Ronald Reagan, and especially to policy regarding regulation of commerce, planning and implementation of the federal budget, and administration of federal government agencies.

Sutton (Antony C.) papers - Writings, clippings, letters, and notes, relating to the incidence, magnitude and category of wars, civil wars, revolutions and other violent conflicts throughout the world from 1820 to 1970; and to the career of the American entrepreneur Armand Hammer, and especially to his business investments in the Soviet Union.
