Czechoslovakia Resources at the Hoover Institution Library & Archives

Introduction

The Hoover Institution Library & Archives holds one of the major collections of library and archival materials related to the history of Czechoslovakia in the United States. Archival holdings related to the history of Czechoslovakia consist of more than 120 collections that cover the period from the events of WWI and the creation of Czechoslovakia until its dissolution in 1992. 

The collection holds many resources relating to the Czech and Slovak national movements, as well as events from the Russian Civil War related to the Czechoslovak Legion. 

The most significant archival collections are those of Ladislav K. Feierabend, William Duncan, Radola Gajda, Štefan Osuský, Juraj Slávik, and the diary of Štefan Tiso. 

Two separate Czech and Slovak subject collections also cover this period.

The Czechoslovakia newspaper collection (1914-2000) comprises 132 different titles of publications in Czech, Slovak, German, English, French, and Hungarian.
